The international management consultancy T.A. Cook was named "Hidden Champion in Consulting" in the "Asset Performance Management" category.
The ‘Hidden Champions des Beratungsmarktes’ is a renowned study conducted by the Scientific Society for Management and Consulting (WGMB) in the German market. The aim of the study is to determine which comparatively unknown consulting firms in their area of expertise are credited by their customers as having higher expertise than the three large consulting firms McKinsey, BCG and Bain. For the study 1,032 executives from large and medium-sized companies take part in a survey. For the first time T.A. Cook was able to achieve the first place in the category 'Asset Performance Management' out of 13 evaluated consulting companies, while McKinsey and Boston Consulting came in second and third place.
Consulting companies that qualify as a ‘Hidden Champion’ have an unsupported level of awareness of less than 15% in the top management of large German companies with annual sales of over 1 billion euros. In addition, a ‘Hidden Champion’ is active in the same market as McKinsey, BCG or Bain: The proportion of its customers who also work with one or more of the three consulting firms is at least 50% and their competence is rated higher in at least one consulting area. The most important selection and evaluation criteria for consulting firms include the specialist knowledge, thought leadership, analytical skills as well as the implementation ability of the consultants.
"The results of the study are particularly valuable. They help us to further optimize our offer and to manifest our position as a thought leader and leading expert in the field of asset performance management," said Dieter Körner, COO at T.A. Cook.
A total of 84 potential hidden champions were considered this time, 39 of which made it to the final round. In the end, 26 consultants were recognized as hidden champions by WGMB. You cannot apply for this study. The pre-selection is made exclusively on proposal by an independent panel of science and practice experts and on the basis of empirical preliminary studies of the WGMB. For this reason in particular, the publication of the results regularly receives great attention in the consulting market and on the management floors of large companies.
